Tar-and-chip paving may be your best choice if you’re seeking a fairly informal paving material that is also inexpensive. The texture of tar-and-chip paving makes for better traction when the surface is wet or snow-covered. Both asphalt and concrete are more slippery than tar-and-chip.

If you’re looking for a casual paving material that’s also affordable, tar-and-chip pavement can be your perfect option. It’s half the price of our hot mix. We also offer a variety of stone colors you can choose from.

The surface of hot tar-and-chip is skid resistant and curtails dust. When the surface is wet or snow-covered, the texture of tar-and-chip paving provides excellent traction. Both asphalt and concrete are more slippery than tar-and-chip.

In installing tar-and-chip, we recommend applying two coats for the first mist times. The first application should last for at least 3 to 5 years, depending on weather, traffic, base, or drainage. We also suggest a total vegetation weed killer ground for 1 to 2 weeks after installation, then 3 times a year for maintenance.

Hot tar-and-chip works best on:

  • Farms
